I just tested and 7.0.10 fails to the same error.
I think I should inform upstream about this issue.
Created an issue on upstream GitHub repository. https://github.com/haiwen/seafile-client/issues/1349

Something in the dep chain breaks it.
And indeed, I downgraded glib to 2.66.7 and this compiled just fine.
Should I update glib dependency to exclude this new version?
We are in the process of deciding whether glib-2.68.0 should be masked in ::gentoo. Not sure whether glib itself is broken, or if some upstreams using it are simply outdated or something. As a precaution you could make a PR to depend on <glib-2.68.0, but give us 1-2 days to figure this out before it's going to be merged.
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/-/commit/552b8fd862061e74b5ad2ffe6a700f850a76f797 here's most likely the offensive commit that made into 2.68. This does make it seem like it's up to glib consumers upstream to fix it, so do prepare a PR restricting glib until you get a patch from seafile upstream fixing it.
Created the PR.
Mmmmh, wwit a second, we have possibly a fix in this upstream PR: https://github.com/haiwen/seafile-client/pull/1346
patch to use https://github.com/alebastr/seafile-client/commit/abea2a0afa14ed2976a5fbc00094a2933b946b56.patch
Created attachment 692847 [details] build.log with upstream patch As you can see, the patch did not solve the issue.

We have a new suggestion to test from upstream in https://github.com/haiwen/seafile-client/issues/1349#issuecomment-804660191
Created attachment 693294 [details, diff] seafile-client-8.0.1-glib-2.68.0.patch net-misc/seafile-client builds with glib 2.68.0 with attached patch. I will make a PR soon.
Err, I think I forgot to remove the glib dependency line... I'll try again.
works!
created the PR for merging the patch
