Description Göktürk Yüksek archtester gentoo-dev 2021-03-14 23:08:23 UTC
Upstream is dead. Continuing to store sensitive information such as passwords on a remote server with no official support for lastpass-cli is not a good security practice. There is no guarantee that the API will remain compatible.

There's a fork literally called lastpass-cli-fork (https://github.com/lastpass-cli-fork/lastpass-cli) that looks to turn it into a community project.

As of today, it's only 11 commits behind master at lastpass/lastpass-cli: https://github.com/lastpass/lastpass-cli/compare/master...lastpass-cli-fork:master

I use this package, so I would like to keep it if possible. Could/Should it be switched to the community fork maybe?

Seems lastpass support still likes it, but the community project would be fine with me, I do use it all the time.

Below is a copy of my response to the fork found in https://github.com/lastpass/lastpass-cli/issues/595#issuecomment-797560413:

I'd be reluctant to go with a fork primarily because there's no guarantee that the server API will remain stable or compatible without official support. I would hate to find myself unable to access my password all of a sudden because the parameter to a POST needs to be a little different now. It's better to either use the officially supported platforms for lastpass or migrate to a different password manager.

Accorging to git issue 602, its still supported, so I think it should not be removed, you can check for yourself.
