It looks like we got regression with `www-client/firefox-78.8.0`: no HTML video can be played any more, from youtube, vimeo, arte.tv, and others. I just see the useless message "Gah. Your tab just crashed."... :( Possibly related to Bug 767775. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start a fresh firefox profile 2. Does is also crash with the other stable versions and the binary version? Tested www-client/firefox-86.0 here, which works fine.
I am experiencing the same issue with the firefox package, and with the firefox-bin package video is playing fine. I'm planning to try rebuilding with '-system-webp' tonight to see if that helps at all.
Building with '-system-webp' did not help me, however after building firefox-86.0 videos are playing without issue.

I have rebuild world after updating to gcc10 and catch this error too.
If you're on rust 1.50, try downgrading to 1.49 and rebuild firefox. I had an issue similar to what you are describing and downgrading rust fixed it for me.
Please add more information (`emerge --info www-client/firefox`) and used rust version.
Yes, I forgot to switch default rust version and built it with nightly. I rebuilt it with 1.47 and video started to work. Firefox 86.0.1 works even if was built with nightly.
Rebuilding with rust 1.47.0 also fixed the issue for me in firefox-78.8.0.
I see the same dmesg output & recently started getting these problems after upgrading rust to unstable, will try re-emerging tonight
emerge `=virtual/rust-1.49.0 www-client/firefox` fixes this for me. Firefox should probably be pinned to `<virtual/rust-1.50.0`?
Yup, and emerging back to `=virtual/rust-1.51.0 www-client/firefox` causes the same breakage
