Description Joonas Niilola gentoo-dev 2021-02-21 13:11:41 UTC
A new version 0.13.0 seems to be available. Please update to latest release.
Comment 1 Nathan Shearer 2021-03-05 17:35:59 UTC
There appears to be a problem with sys-boot/refind-0.12.0-r1 where systems are not bootable when that version is installed.

Please do not remove refind-0.11.4 because it is the only version left in portage that actually works.
Comment 2 Joonas Niilola gentoo-dev 2021-03-05 17:41:07 UTC
I don't see bug open about it, do you have more information available somewhere? We can package.mask that version.
Comment 3 Nathan Shearer 2021-03-05 21:12:45 UTC
Yes, I've installed several systems and been forced to revert to the old version -- haven't submitted a bug yet. I actually spent several hours thinking it was my install script that was the problem before I tried reverting refind out of desperation.

I was going to post a bug once I had steps to reproduce the issue put together.

It's going to be a big problem because if people upgrade refind, then re-install their bootloader and reboot, their system will never come back up.
Comment 4 Joonas Niilola gentoo-dev 2021-03-06 05:50:03 UTC
Have you tried if 0.13.0 fixes it for you? I'd appreciate if you installed that, and made a Github PR bumping this package in ::gentoo repository. If 0.13.0 works, we could easily mask 0.12.0-r1 and "force" an update.

Refind in Gentoo does not look maintained currently, as no feedback from Stephane is heard yet.

Hi, sorry about that. I’d like to clone myself and be able to do all I need to… ;-)
Anyway, if no-one else is working on it, I’ll try to create the version bump during the week-end.
Comment 6 Stéphane Veyret 2021-03-14 07:47:31 UTC
Not sure I’ll have time to work on it during the coming days. Note that version 0.13.2 of rEFInd has been released.
Comment 7 Stéphane Veyret 2021-03-21 08:46:24 UTC
FYI, started working on this task today.
