Description Don Wilburn 2021-01-20 19:56:20 UTC
Audacious fails CDDB lookups. The internet says v 4.05 uses gnudb.gnudb.org by default, which should be the proper database.
Other operating systems apparently allow manual entry of the database address in the GUI, but I can't find it in the linux version. I glanced at the config files and didn't see any promising entry there either.
The Audacious web site doesn't indicate this as a bug.
This is also true on my Slackware box, so it's not Gentoo's problem. I just thought a developer could pass this bug upstream. Or, point out my blindness. Thanks.

4.0.5 indeed contains the fix for freedb.org shutdown -> gnudb.gnudb.org lookup

- You built media-plugins/audacious-plugins with IUSE=cdda?
- Any output when you start audacious from your favorite terminal emulator?
Comment 4 Don Wilburn 2021-01-25 20:19:12 UTC
I started the program from a terminal and loaded an audio CD. It listed a couple errors about cddb failure to connect, then started playing without title/track info. So, I stopped and loaded a different CD. The same boxes started popping up, then it started working.
So, it was something hindering my connection to the server. It wasn't audacious's fault.
Thank you for responding. I will try to close this bug since there's no problem
