After upgrading from dev-lang/perl-5.30.3-r1 to dev-lang/perl-5.32.0-r1, "perl-cleaner --all" flags files in /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.32/ as out-of-date and rebuilds the packages owning them (which does not move those files elsewhere). I'll attach the output of "perl-cleaner --all --pretend -v -v -v -v". I think the relevant bits are: > Installed perl version: 5.32.0 This means $version got set to a path including a trailing .0. > Checking dev-vcs/git-2.30.0 > Check: /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.32/Git.pm > Found different version > Adding to list: dev-vcs/git:0 This means outdated_path() did not find $version (5.32.0) in /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.32/Git.pm. On a different system still on dev-lang/perl-5.30.3, the relevant directory is /usr/lib64/perl5/5.30.3. So it looks like Perl strips the trailing .0 from that path, while perl-cleaner does not. I'm not sure which package should be changed, but I'm guessing perl-cleaner. Please let me know if the fault is actually with dev-lang/perl and you need more information (like build logs) from that one. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Upgrade to dev-lang/perl-5.32.0-r1 2. Run "perl-cleaner --all" 3. Run "perl-cleaner --all" a second time Actual Results: perl-cleaner rebuilt many packages. Expected Results: perl-cleaner did not rebuild packages more than once. can confirm this - have the same effect.
(In reply to Jochen Schlick from comment #2) > can confirm this - have the same effect. Me too, on several unstable amd64 hosts.
I did this: ``` rm -R /usr/lib64/perl5/5.32/ emerge -DNa world perl-cleaner ``` The issue persists for me.
Yeah perl-cleaner needs some bugfixing after the changes of Perl 5.32. Mostly you shouldn't need perl-cleaner at all. The subslot rebuild mechanism works quite well by now. I'll have a look over the next days.
Can confirm, too. After perl update to dev-lang/perl-5.32.0-r1 perl-cleaner repetably rebuilds every perl module package and every package linked against libperl each time it is run.
