Since dev-util/gtk-doc*-1.33, the ebuilds are based on the meson eclass rather than gnome2. The new gtk-doc ebuild sets "-Dautotools_support=off" to disable autools support. Autotools support is then (supposedly) provided through gtk-doc-am. However, gtk-doc-am only installs "gtk-doc.m4", while the other autotools-related files are ignored. In particular, this affects: - /usr/bin/gtkdocize - /usr/share/gtk-doc/data/gtk-doc*.make Before version 1.33, these files were installed through the gtk-doc ebuild (rather than the gtk-doc-am ebuild) but are now no longer provided by gtk-doc-1.33* ebuilds (because of the "autotools_support" configuration option being disabled) or gtk-doc-am (which still only installs gtk-doc.m4). This issue potentially affects all ebuilds relying on autotools support in gtk-doc*, e.g., x11-wm/muffin [1]. For the binaryden overlay, I modified dev-util/gtk-doc-am-1.33.1 to include the missing files mentioned above [2]. Is there any particular reason against merging dev-util/gtk-doc and dev-util/gtk-doc-am and enabling autotools support e.g. via a USE flag toggling gtk-doc's "autotools_support" option during the configuration phase instead? I think it's just a mistake from Matt on meson port from thinking that autotools_support will only disable gtk-doc.m4, which isn't the case. So the straightforward fix to bring back status quo is to always enable autotools_support in gtk-doc and then remove the gtk-doc.m4 file, like previous versions did.
