Description Allan Gottlieb 2004-12-23 11:58:27 UTC
The handbook section 2.b in code listing 2 shows USEs in
/etc/make.profile/make.defaults

/etc/make.profile on my system points to ../usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/2004.2

The make.defaults there is empty.
It is really the union of entries in parent directories

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Look in handbook section 2.b
2. cat /etc/make.profile/make.defaults
3.

Actual Results:
The doc says USEs are there.
The file is empty.

Expected Results:
The doc should have explained about visiting the parents

Well, although it has something to do with the cascading profiles, I do believe we need to adjust this part in the handbook.

Fixed in CVS for all possible occurrences in the handbooks. Hopefully. :)
