This package provides a generic org.freedesktop.thumbnails.Thumbnailer1 interface, providing programs with the ability to generate thumbnails. I believe meant to say to remove the dependency rather "doesn't depend". And I agree, this package builds and works fine without thunar, it's an independent dbus service. I've used it for a similar purpose without thunar in the past not that I've been bothering anymore.
