I am trying to emerge app-emulation/virtualbox-6.1.16, but the compilation is failing when compiling file VBox/VMM/VMMAll/IEMAll.cpp. The problem also happens in 6.1.14a and the stable-marked 6.0.24. I don't know if it is due kernel upgrade. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Just emerge virtualbox Actual Results: Failure during compile phase Expected Results: Must install without issues - I am using kernel gentoo-sources 5.4.71. - VirtualBox used to compile on this machine before.

I don't know if this is related to gcc, but I have crossdev and used to install targets before (Mainly for aarch64 and PPC), but I removed them all.
Is this problem from our side or should it be reported to Oracle?
The same in problem in app-emulation/virtualbox-6.1.16-r1. The problem still occurs in virtualbox-6.1.18. In my opinion this is a major problem for this package.
I cannot reproduce the problem which makes it quite hard to find the cause of your issue. I'd highly appreciate a good instruction how to reliably reproduce this issue...

Faced the same issue with virtualbox 6.1.22, Temporarily removing `-march=native -mtune=native` from cflags have solved the issue for me. This is a known bug that's WONTFIX from redhat. I do think this bug should be left open as we're a source-based distro and need to figure out a workaround. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1721553#c34 < this comment specifically describes what's going on. (if it seems unrelated, see the next few comments referencing virtualbox, this is the same issue). Basically because GCC is compiled as position independent code, memory addresses get scrambled and this is not compatible with PCH (which is sort of like a memory dump of GCC's state). We're not disabling PIE on GCC to make this work. Yeah... uh, actually I don't have a lot of time to work on this with holiday. Here's the easy workaround to getting it to build on an affected system: VBOX_WITHOUT_PRECOMPILED_HEADERS=1 emerge virtualbox
