Hey, while working on the bump for alot-0.9.1, I run into this issue, I added a patch to solve it, it is not fixed yet in upstream. https://github.com/urwid/urwid/issues/377
Upstream just merged the patch into master https://github.com/urwid/urwid/commit/2c49419cdba573fdbe5254d5df36fb443f864a16
Also the issue break stuff that use urwid, on stable version 2.1.0
