Description nvaert1986 2020-07-31 11:47:17 UTC
After emerging sys-apps/systemd-2.45.5 I was no longer able to login into my system. After logging in, Gnome wouldn't load and I would just be redirected to the GDM login screen again. I was no longer able to switch to any TTY either. This was caused by the getty@ttyX.service being disabled for tty2 to tty6, after upgrading to sys-apps/systemd-2.45.5. Enabling the TTY's resolved the issue.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Upgrade to sys-apps/systemd-2.45.5 when using GDM with Gnome and reboot the system.
Actual Results:
Unable to login to my system.

Expected Results:
Able to login to my system.

It's resolved by enabling TTY2 - TTY6

P.S.: A separate bug report as requested in https://bugs.gentoo.org/734762.

It is sad to read that you have problems with the software. The situation seems to be a bit more complicate and requires some analysis.
We can not help you efficiently via bug tracker. The bug tracker aims rather on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems.

I have had very good experience on the gentoo IRC [1] with questions like this. Of course there are also forums and mailing lists [2,3].
I hope you understand, that I will close the bug here therefore and wish you good luck on one of the mentioned channels [4].
Please reopen the ticket in order to provide an indication for an specific error in an ebuild or any gentoo related product.
