Description Gabriel Marcano 2020-07-22 07:37:48 UTC
Trying to build dev-util/radare2-4.5.0 with -flto as part of CFLAGS and CXXFLAGS leads to radare2 causing the linker to segfault.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge -1 radare2
Actual Results:
during IPA pass: cp

Expected Results:
emerge succeeds.

I've added -flto to my CXXFLAGS and CFLAGS, and I am slowly letting programs update themselves to use LTO if possible (if not, I'm using -fno-lto in an an env configuration in package.env to disable it for those problematic ones). For my usecase I can disable LTO for radare2 (which builds in that case), but I wanted to report this bug as it is causing GCC to segfault. Should I rebuild GCC with debugging symbols and -fno-omit-frame-pointer (I'm also building with -fomit-frame-pointer)?

Here's my emerge --info:

Reproduced locally. Fails for both gcc-10.1.0 and gcc-11.0.0. Looking.

0001-ipa-96291-don-t-crash-on-unoptimized-lto-functions.patch

If you are feeling adventurous you can test 0001-ipa-96291-don-t-crash-on-unoptimized-lto-functions.patch gcc patch.

You will need to add it to /etc/portage/patches/sys-devel/gcc:10/ and rebuild gcc.

This is probably a similar but distinct bug in ipa-inline (opposed to SIGSEGV in ipa constrant propagation in this bug). I suggest sorting it out in a new bug. Can you file one with a link to the ebuild? I'll try to reproduce locally.
