In /usr/share/doc/afl-2.56b an empty README file is installed, but the usage guide is missing. It has moved from docs/README to README.md in the tarball after the source moved to github, but the build system still installs the old, now empty file. Since it's the main documentation for the tool the ebuild really should fix that.
I see the same too.
True, but ultimately an upstream issue, I've filled a PR: https://github.com/google/AFL/pull/117

This is currently broken with latest clang/llvm versions and an upstream bug remained unanswered. We may re-enable this once it's fixed upstream. This should resolve all clang-related bugs. Also fix doc installation (bug #720194).
