In this commits [1,2] new dependencies on dev-libs/spdlog and dev-libs/pugixml were introduced. dev-libs/spdlog missing from http://docs.gerbera.io/en/latest/compile.html btw. The live ebuild however is still missing the dependencies. Would be great if they could be updated to reflect this.
