Description Michał Górny archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2020-04-23 07:02:04 UTC
Unmaintained. Stuck at Python 3.6. dev-python/rebulk is broken with recent versions of dev-python/regex and has no fix upstream. The two remaining packages are its revdeps.

Just for reference, im using local overlay with rebulk 2.0.0 and guessit 3.1.0 and it seems to work with 3.7 (didnt try yet with 3.8), at least for what im using guessit for... Also pypi.org shows compatibility for 3.7 for both libraries... but i undestand there is not maintainer and thats why its geting removed from official repo.
Comment 4 Klemen Mihevc 2020-04-26 13:28:14 UTC
tested rebulk 2.0.0 and guessit 3.1.0 with py3.8 and they seems to work fine.
Comment 5 Scott Alfter 2020-04-27 21:51:38 UTC
The commit log for rebulk indicates that it's supposed to be at least compatible with Python 3.7, and that some work toward Python 3.8 compatibility had been done:

https://github.com/Toilal/rebulk/commits/

I'm going through my Python ebuilds (and my Medusa ebuild, since that depends on guessit) to bring them up to at least Python 3.7. I expect most won't need much more than an edit to PYTHON_COMPAT.
Comment 6 Scott Alfter 2020-04-28 02:12:34 UTC
guessit 3.1.0 and the most recent commit of rebulk built and run without issue under Python 3.7 once I updated my overlay.
Comment 7 Michał Górny archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2020-04-28 06:38:31 UTC
Adding 3.7 is a waste of time if the package is known to be dead and not going to work with 3.8.
Comment 8 Klemen Mihevc 2020-05-03 14:10:17 UTC
guessit 3.1.1 released with yaml fix after bug report
Comment 9 Michał Górny archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2020-05-03 16:09:20 UTC
Bumped and restored.
