Description Gleb 2020-03-29 17:04:50 UTC
Please bump. This version is required for mpv >0.31 which was marked as stable recently.

https://github.com/2ion/mpv-bash-completion/releases/tag/3.3.18

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Gleb 2020-03-29 17:56:53 UTC
Also, I didn't notice at first, but the newest mpv blocks mpv-bash-completion, all versions.

So it may be possible that this package is no longer needed at all.

Yes, mpv has its own bash completion now.

Rather than bump, the plan should be to be to remove it soon given 0.32 is stable now, see bug #706784

This can be last-rited.

Excuse me if this is odd-topic, but how is "mpv own bash completion" supposed to work? I have mpv-0.32.0-r1 installed, and I don't get any autocompletion, at least as it works in any other command I know. Does it need any special configuration or something to activate it?

I can't find any documentation, and the release notes only say "bash completion: add initial implementation".

I see there is a file "/usr/share/bash-completion/completions/mpv", but I don't know what it's supposed to do. I can press the TAB key all day, and nothing happens.
Comment 5 Gleb 2020-06-27 14:58:41 UTC
You may need to enable bash-completions via eselect module:
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Bash#Tab_completion
Comment 6 edes 2020-06-27 22:54:18 UTC
Thanks, but I just checked and it was already enabled. I tried disabling it and enabling it again, and I get this:

$ eselect bashcomp enable mpv
For the changes to apply to open shells, you may need to run:
  complete -r mpv
in each of them.

$ complete -r mpv
bash: complete: mpv: no completion specification
