Yes, absolutely. It would require to stabilize dev-python/wxpython 4 though and I'm not sure what consequences that has for other packages.

In my opinion (but that may go against policy) it is completely fine to just remove the 1.x pyfa versions already so you are not blocked by them. This program is only useful in very recent versions as it has to be in sync with the developments on the live EVE Online game servers. Those 1.x versions are using very outdated data and are completely useless to anyone anyway.
