Description Stephen Torri 2004-11-08 18:44:28 UTC
When I attempt to update arts via emerge the build fails linking libmcop.la. The attached file is the log output of the emerge of arts alone. I ran it with the command: emerge --newuse -Dv arts &>arts.log

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge --newuse -Dv arts
2. Wait for build to fail.

Actual Results:
Build fails. See arts.log file for full details

Expected Results:
Arts-1.3.1 builds.

Comment 2 Gregorio Guidi (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-09 02:06:17 UTC
This seems the same as bug 67926, but I can't say what's the cause...
maybe the recent libtool mess (bug 67692)?
Comment 3 Stephen Torri 2004-11-10 18:27:00 UTC
Rebuilding libtool does not clear up this issue. Re-emerging libtool-1.5.2-r5 does not help arts to build.
Comment 4 Stephen Torri 2004-11-15 07:02:13 UTC
Using gcc-3.4.3 I got arts to compile. There is still a problem. Artsd segfaults on starting. Here is the text that results from calling artsd from a konsole:

bash-2.05b$ sudo artsd

Looks like I will need to rebuild kdemultimedia. Stand by to see what results of this rebuild.
Comment 6 Stephen Torri 2004-11-15 15:08:27 UTC
Using gcc 3.4.3 and recompiling arts and kdemultimedia things are working. This does not solve why gcc 3.3.4 does not compile arts. Its just a work around.
Comment 7 Stephen Torri 2004-12-06 18:40:21 UTC
Given that 3.4 is compiles things more correctly than 3.3 according to the gcc developers I don't see a reason to see out why arts doesn't compile for 3.3. So since I am happy with 3.4 I am going to close this as WONTFIX.
