emerge --info sys-libs/pam

After the update I was unable to unlock my screen by entering the correct password. Downgrading to =sys-libs/pam-1.3.0-r2 fixed the problem.

I also filed the upstream swaylock issue, because otherwise login worked normal for me and I didn't think it's related to PAM. They suggested filing the distro bug.
Comment 1 Sorrow 2019-12-30 17:50:07 UTC
The error in console was:

pam_authenticate failed: invalid credentials

I don't have problems with build, do need to attach the build log? Which package should I rebuild - swaylock or pam? I it's the latter, which version do you want? The one that works or that doesn't?

Is your Sway built with the wallpapers useflag enabled?

I doubt this was the reason. I long forgot about this bug. I had =sys-libs/pam-1.3.1-r1 in my package.mask, but the version in the portage tree was updated to 1.3.1-r2 and further to 1.3.1_p20200128-r1. I don't know at what point I updated to one of this versions, but the bug has never reappeared. I don't know where it was fixed - in pam or in swaylock (both updated since then) or somewhere else. But definitely it was not the missing jpeg USE flag in the gdk-pixbuff, because I have gdk-pixbuff built with jpeg.
