Ulrich, if someone (me) were willing to re-home the package, would you be able to unmask the ebuild, or do you feel the license/copyright issues are irreconcilable at this point?
(In reply to Brian S. Stephan from comment #2) > Ulrich, if someone (me) were willing to re-home the package, would you be > able to unmask the ebuild, or do you feel the license/copyright issues are > irreconcilable at this point? The arguments from bug 634288 still apply. This is a collection of many quotes from the same series of books and the same author, so arguing that it would be "fair use" may be difficult. For example, Wikiquote has as a guideline: "A recommended maximum of five lines of prose or eight lines of poetry for every ten pages of a book not in the public domain." https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Wikiquote:Limits_on_quotations Taking "Children of Dune" which has 377 pages, the above rule would allow for a maximum of 190 lines of quotes, while the respective fortune file has about 500 non-empty lines. Then again, there may be jurisdictions that are more strict than the U.S. (where Wikiquote is located), so the above guideline may not even be applicable. So, I'd rather proceed with the last rites, unless we would get explicit permission from the copyright holder that these quotes can be redistributed.
