app-editors/pluma-1.22.x hard depends on python-2.7 --- I have bumped locally mate-common-1.23 with pluma-1.23.2 both devel version run perfectly on a stable mate-1.22 DE A mate-1.24 release is awaited before the normal Ubuntu upgrade schedule in march
Forgot to tell you: the devel version pluma-1.23.2 runs with any python3
To be precise, pluma has been supporting Python 3 since version 1.23.1[0] [0]:https://github.com/mate-desktop/pluma/releases/tag/v1.23.1
