Tests are restricted in Gentoo, how do we make sure it works?

Fedora have built it with py38 some months ago: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/syslog-ng/c/0875048268490b687d81f4a1f611b8968b9a486d?branch=master

We can at least try to build it. I don't use syslog-ng with python myself.
