emerge -uD world -p is spewing all sorts of stuff. I guess some are debug messages but others are just garbage. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge -uD world -p 2. 3. Actual Results: emerge -uD world -p These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating world dependencies -QA Notice: sed in global scope: sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.4.19-r22 QA Notice: sed in global scope: sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r25 |QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 /gnome /cups /QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: has_version() in global scope: eclass gtk-engines2 QA Notice: sed in global scope: x11-themes/gtk-engines-2.2.0 |python \QA Notice: USE Flag 'python' not in IUSE for dev-libs/libxslt-1.1.9 python QA Notice: USE Flag 'python' not in IUSE for dev-libs/libxslt-1.1.4 python QA Notice: USE Flag 'python' not in IUSE for dev-libs/libxslt-1.1.6 python QA Notice: USE Flag 'python' not in IUSE for dev-libs/libxslt-1.1.9-r1 python QA Notice: USE Flag 'python' not in IUSE for dev-libs/libxslt-1.1.8 python QA Notice: USE Flag 'python' not in IUSE for dev-libs/libxslt-1.1.3 python QA Notice: USE Flag 'python' not in IUSE for dev-libs/libxslt-1.1.8-r1 python /gnome gnome gnome gnome gnome gnome gnome -ssl alsa cups x86 |ldap motif encode cups oggvorbis opengl ssl pam \opengl \sdl xmms sdl xmms sdl xmms sdl xmms sdl xmms -esd motif slang tcltk oggvorbis cdr /pam \QA Notice: sed in global scope: media-libs/libdvdcss-0.0.3.3 \QA Notice: sed in global scope: dev-libs/nss-3.9.2 ...done! This is a result of portage now doing more QA checking on ebuilds as it searches through them. Until the QA of a number of packages improve this will continue. Sorry there is no easy answer. If you get keen you can write bug reports against individual packages that generate errors such as: USE Flag 'python' not in IUSE for dev-libs/libxslt-1.1.9 In the mean time this is harmless and is being addressed by the Gentoo QA whips.
