I updated Firefox yesterday 60.8or9.0 to 68.1.0. Restarting the updated Firefox after it had been installed worked without any visible issue. After rebooting today, Firefox now crashes. It does not in safe mode

Reproducible: Always

In safe mode, I disabled all my extensions, but that didn't help.

Almost the same issue mentioned here: http://forum.ixbt.com/topic.cgi?id=76:8505:2792#2792, but I do not read Russian so I do not know whether they followed-up and resolved it.

I'm confirmed this crash.
After update I see menu in english lang -> download Russian lang pack -> press "Применить и перезапустить" aka "Save and reboot". After this firefox crash:

I start firefox in safe mode (in cli) and reinstall Russian lang pack but this time I press "Save and reboot", and this time was only one tab open (Preferens), while for the first time four tabs were opened (Preferens, Addons and two sites). After this firefox says:

Downgrading to 60.9.0 fixes the issue for me for now.

I also confirm that I've encountered this bug. There are already 3 separate users running into this, so it would be appropriate to change the status to anything but "UNCONFIRMED".

I am unable to reproduce. I just downgraded to =www-client/firefox-68.1.0 and a fresh profile will start with LANG=ru-RU or LANG=de-DE without any problems and I can confirm that localization works.

You are saying you are coming from 60.x... maybe there's an incompatibility in your profile causing upgrade problems. Go to about:support and click "Refresh Firefox" to see if this will fix your problem. Don't forget to backup your profile *before*...

And I noticed today that some bookmarks and extension data are gone after downgrading to 60.9.0… We'll have to take this upstream; anyone have a mozilla Bugzilla account?

With a new profile, even solution in #14 was not enough. The solution in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1167673 was required which disabled multi-process windows, apparently.

Verified that Firefox recreate the file by itself.
No need to further fixing.

Original identified issue persists with FF 68.8.0.

Luca's suggestion here(https://bugs.gentoo.org/694456#c21) worked like a charm.

My suspicion is that problem occurred after a reboot. And when I was rebooting, FF was opened at the time. Working theory for me is that FF is not properly handling the `addonStartup.json.lz4` file during system shutdown. The file then becomes corrupt or unreadable after the boot.
