Matt: Can you please confirm what version of boost was on your system? This did used to fail, but seems to work now, so need to figure out what changed.

Ping. I'm using facter with new boost for a few months now, and this silly restriction causes horrible conflicts on every upgrade.
mgorny, if you've tested facter with newer boost, feel free to change the deps on the versions you tested (I assume 3.14.4 and 9999?).
Regarding testing: is it expected that tests fail? I'm wondering if boost version is relevant to that.
tests should pass sudo ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=~amd64 USE=test FEATURES=test emerge -1 facter Password: These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating dependencies... done! [ebuild N ] dev-ruby/facter-3.14.4 USE="test -debug" RUBY_TARGETS="ruby24 -ruby25 -ruby26" Would you like to merge these packages? Well, they have never passed for me, so I suppose it'd be better if you tested it.
The tests fail for me, but does install.

Looks like facter-3.14.5 fails to build for me, boost (I have 1.71.0 installed) related: /usr/include/boost/system/error_code.hpp:686: undefined reference to `boost::system::generic_category()' Should I post build.log here or is it not related and do I open a new bug?
Created attachment 598860 [details] facter-3.14.5-build.log 3.14.5 fails to link here as well, I'm wondering if many of the reported failures are a subslot somewhere that's missing for triggering a rebuild.
(In reply to Stijn Tintel from comment #13) > Looks like facter-3.14.5 fails to build for me, boost (I have 1.71.0 > installed) related: > /usr/include/boost/system/error_code.hpp:686: undefined reference to > `boost::system::generic_category()' > > Should I post build.log here or is it not related and do I open a new bug? For now, please open a new bug, but try to rebuild dev-cpp/cpp-hocon first (and check what version you have).
This should at least trigger a rebuild of dev-cpp/cpp-hocon, which is the root cause of all these spurious failures. commit 696d7dab0e4aa6b01a12340633cdc2829867b937 Author: David Seifert <soap@gentoo.org> AuthorDate: Sat Dec 7 20:00:30 2019 +0100 Commit: David Seifert <soap@gentoo.org> CommitDate: Sat Dec 7 20:00:30 2019 +0100 dev-ruby/facter: DEPEND on more recent dev-cpp/cpp-hocon Package-Manager: Portage-2.3.81, Repoman-2.3.20 Signed-off-by: David Seifert <soap@gentoo.org>
