Okay - sorry about putting this in bug #64248 earlier: Having just emerged xorg-x11-6.8.0-r1, the b&h lucida* iso-8859-* fonts are *missing* from the 75/100 dpi bitmap fonts, the fonts.alias files in those directories are consequently wrong and apps like emacs, which don't seem to like the remaining iso-10646 lucida fonts anyway, don't work properly. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

posted a temporary workout here: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=1690841#1690841 scroll to the howto post ;-) Hope this will help someone!

Fixed in 6.8.0-r2 in CVS. Please test.
Well I'm happy to test ~x86 stuff but when something critical like X is hard masked, I'm rather reluctant to, so I was unable to test or take advantage of the patched r2 but now I've just emerged r3 and I still don't have the fonts.
-r3 is simply a security patch added onto -r1. -r4 is the continuation of -r2 and has the fix.
"-r4 is the continuation of -r2 and has the fix." ...and -r4 is also masked - so again, I cannot use it and I don't think a bug should be marked as fixed when there is not even a ~x86 ebuild available for us poor ordinary users. Anyway, tomcat's workaround doesn't even work now - the file at the URL he gave has moved or something but luckily I have found the fonts on an unused partition and will be copying them across. I'll be happy to email them to anyone else who needs them.
In our current method of handling X bugs, we don't specify whether a bug is already fixed but not keyworded a certain way. That creates more work by requiring us to constantly check whether any of a long list of bugs is fixed with a certain ebuild. So when something is fixed, it's fixed. Anything else requires more effort, which I don't currently have the time for. That's why I'm looking for recruits. The ebuild will be unmasked in due time. I posted to gentoo-dev yesterday asking for testers.
