re dupe - a little bit, compiling works, but w/ the 'No glyph for character'-error and w/o seqfault. the fonts work - but i have to add the line Fontpath "/usr/share/fonts/lfpfonts-{fix,var}" manually to my /etc/X11/xorg.conf ... <snip> porkoo ~ # emerge info Portage 2.0.51-r2 (default-linux/x86/2004.3, gcc-3.4.1, glibc-2.3.4.20041006-r0, 2.6.9-cko2 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.9-cko2 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.60GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.4 distcc 2.18 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] ccache version 2.3 [enabled] Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r5 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.5-r1 Binutils: sys-devel/binutils-2.15.92.0.2-r1 Headers: sys-kernel/linux26-headers-2.6.8.1-r1 Libtools: sys-devel/libtool-1.5.2-r5 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3 /env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /us r/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ / usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/sha re/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/mail/dspam /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs candy ccache distlocks loadpolicy prelink sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://cs.ubishops.ca/pub/gentoo/ http://gentoo.tiscali.nl/gentoo / http://sunsite.cnlab-switch.ch/ftp/mirror/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.samerica.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X X509 Xaw3d aac aalib acl adns aim alsa amd apache2 apm arts artswrappersu id async audiofile avi bcmath berkdb bidi bitmap-fonts bonobo bootspla bzlib cdd b cdparanoia cdr cdrom chroot clamav clanJavaScript clanVoice client cpdflib cry pt ctype cups curl curlwrappers dba dedicated dillo dio directfb disablekernelsu pport distcache distribution divx4linux dnd dv dvd dvdr dvdread edl encode escre en esd estraier ethereal etwin evms2 exif f77 faac faad fam ffmpeg flac flatfile flood fmod foomaticdb ftp gb gd gdbm geoip gif gimp glut gphoto2 gpm gps gs gst reamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml hbci iconv icq ieee1394 imagemagick imap imlib imlib2 im mqt immqt-bc inifile innodb ipv6 jabber jack java javascript jbig jce jikes jp2 jpeg junit jython kadu-modules kadu-voice lcd ldap libcaca libg++ libwww lirc li ve lm_sensors ltsp lua lufsusermount lzo lzw lzw-tiff mad maildir maildrop mailw rapper matroska mbox md5sum memlimit mha mikmod mime ming mixer mmx mmx2 mng mot if moznocompose moznoirc moznomail mozp3p mozsvg mozxmlterm mp3 mpeg mpeg4 mplay er msn mysql nas ncurses net network neural nis nls nntp nowin nptl nptlonly ntl m nvidia nviz oav offensive ofx oggvorbis openal opengl oscar oss pam passfile p cap pcre pdflib perl php physfs pic pie png postgres postgresql procmail python qt quicktime quotes readline rtc samba scanner sdl server session sftplogging si lc silverxp skey slang smime sndfile soap sockets socks5 speex spell sqlite sse sse2 ssl stats stroke subject-rewrite svg svga szip tcltk tcpd tetex tga theora threads thumbnail tidy tiff timidity tokenizer transparent-proxy truetype unicod e usb uudeview v4l v4l2 vhosts vim-with-x virus-scan wmf wsconvert x86 xchatdccs erver xchattext xface xfs xgetdefault xine xinerama xml xml2 xmlrpc xmms xosd xp m xprint xsl xv xvid xvmc yahoo yv12 zlib linguas_en linguas_de linguas_es" </snip>
the no glyph for char is just a warning afaik, you can cc the other bug to follow that report. The need to add the fontpath for usage Xfont-style is known, the eclass doesn't handle that because we consider it deprecated behaviour.
