Well, it's not exactly fixed, but for anyone else hitting this error I recommend using stable terminology with stable efl. Then ~arch terminology with ~arch efl. It's intended to work that way. 

I don't feel like introducing limits to these ebuilds, because someone will nag about trying to modify stable ebuild, and it can take months for PRs to get merged. 

Still, thanks torafl for your continuous testing :) I have a feeling you'll run into this eventually again, but I will try to stabilize 1.4.0 before that (if it's backwards-compatible, I need to test it first).
