Would you mind helping me why you think this is needed for c_rehash
package? 
The only file being installed is a shell script.

Hi, thanks for pointing out my ignorance politely.  I honestly thought c_rehash was a standalone thing, but it looks like the script is just calling openssl if I am reading correctly?

Shall I close and open a new bug concerning openssl + LFS?

I see the source of my confusion.

The upstream information I was following wasn't Gentoo specific.  They mentioned c_rehash breaking, because on other distros it is provided with openssl.  For us, that version is deleted, and the bash script re-implementation is used instead.  Closing.
