i'm having the very same problem with lilypond-9999 --

I can confirm that the patch works. Also works on lilypond-9999 Just put the patch in /etc/portage/patches/media-sound/lilypond/ (create the directory structure if it doesnt exist). Then emerge --resume or whatever. And itll pick up the patch automatically.
