A simple rename seems to work here, but I have been holding off on bumping this because there were some changes to CMakeLists.txt in commit d52707c0 that I'm not quite sure about (it looks like it sets debug flags on any non-Release configuration).
Do you think we should force CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release, or add IUSE=debug to allow setting CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Debug optionally?
