I think that the wrong version was cleaned from tree, portage now wants to downgrade qemu: [ebuild UD ] app-emulation/qemu-2.12.0-r3::gentoo [2.12.1::gentoo] Head commit of repository gentoo: d49d8e1ca96038f2f53bba3e62a057b38635e4f7 Root cause: https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/commit/3ecea939dc7dd9bb992a0a90330720666357747e I think that qemu-2.12.0-r3 is the version which should be cleaned from tree not 2.12.1.
