More importantly, it's not just the homepage, but SRC_URI. Once the mirrors no longer carry it, the source can't even be retrieved.

Our main mirror will keep the file until the last official Gentoo ebuild referencing that file was deleted (even then we will keep it for additional ~30 days)). There's also zero risk for Gentoo users: If the "new owner" of bzip2.org would add malicious files, a PM following PMS wouldn't even touch these files due to checksum mismatch. Anyway, I'll update ebuild.
