When starting gparted 0.29.0 in a minimal environment without udisks, policyKit, etc I encountered the following issue: -----8<----- ====================== libparted : 3.2 ====================== terminate called after throwing an instance of 'Glib::ConvertError' /usr/sbin/gparted: line 193: 20555 Aborted $BASE_CMD -----8<----- Taking the existing gparted-0.29.0.ebuild, renaming it to gparted-0.31.0.ebuild and emerging this new version of gparted solved the issue. I'd recommend a version bump.
Meanwhile, some more versions have been released. Actual upstream version is now 0.32.0 https://gparted.sourceforge.io/news.php
Created attachment 551856 [details] build.log (gparted-0.32.0, ppc64) A simple version bump via local repo worked for me on ppc64.
