Hi team gentoo, I have a strange problem with =kde-apps/kdenlive-17.12.3, but the same with 18.04.2 version. I have a MKV Video, (1hour 30minutes) and when i try to make a render, (i cut video and 2 parts i disable sound, when i make the render, my memory increase from 5Go used to 8Go used (max RAM on my PC). The system swap and crash. There are a memory leak. The same project make with the 18.04.2 version of KDENLIVE on this same system, but with the appimage from kdenlive project have no memory leak. I think the problem is very difficult to solve. And i don't know how can i help you. My laptop is an Asus N76VZ, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30GHz I attach an image of my project, not very complex and an emerge --info about kdenlive Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install kdenlive 2. Import a video and cut 2 parts 3. Render the video Actual Results: memory increase quickly

Thank you for your comprehensive report. To me it sounds like a bug in the software provided upstream or a misconfiguration in your system [3]. Does the same source work for you on another distribution? If it works on other distributions, but not on Gentoo Linux, I suggest to discuss this problem on a related mailing list, forum or IRC channel. I have had very good experience on the Gentoo IRC [1], of course there are also forums and mailing lists. [2] I will close this bug here, because I do not see a relation to the gentoo ebuild or the way Gentoo handles this special software package. Please provide more information, if I am wrong. [1] https://www.gentoo.org/get-involved/irc-channels/ [2] https://www.gentoo.org/support/ [3] look up the upstream forums; search in their bug tracker
Hi, I repopen the bug. I have the problem with pitivi too ! The problem is media-plugins/frei0r-plugins-1.5.0 If i uninstall media-plugins/frei0r-plugins-1.5.0 memory leak in kdenlive disappear, but i loose transitions. I tried to upgrade the media-plugins/frei0r-plugins package to 1.6.1 version. When i make a render, NO MEMORY LEAK !!!!!! I think the problem is in the media-plugins/frei0r-plugins-1.5.0 package. Is it possible to stabilize last version ? Thanks !
I guess so. I don't think we have to wait for media-video approval after more than one year in tree. Arches, please stabilise.
