Hello, I've just found alpine is corrupting text attachments when saving. I found following bug report https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=706279 and then noticed that alpine in Gentoo is still 2.00 ... The unstable alpine, 2.21.1, still corrupts the text attachments by default, suggesting I have something set incorrectly, BUT it at least have the binary option which doesn't corrupt the files. Is there any reason never versions are not marked stable?

Is there any chance the chappa patches can be applied to this version as well? Like it is, it unfortunately cannot read mails stored in the maildir format, which may make the update slightly disappointing for some users...

It seems there used to be a patch for Alpine 2.21 (see http://web.archive.org/web/20170803003119/http://alpine.freeiz.com:80/alpine/info/maildir.html), but I couldn't find the file. If you provide it, I could try to add it to the ebuild.
have a look at the sources of the other distributions. Perhaps one has the patches there: https://repology.org/metapackages/?search=alpine

If you provide it, I could > try to add it to the ebuild. I emailed Eduardo Chappa, the upstream, and he was friendly enough to send me an all.patch.gz that is current against the alpine git. However I suspect that's not very helpful for Gentoo for legal/license reasons, or am I mistaken? Otherwise, OpenSuSE seems to have a bunch of de-bundled chappa-patches that they apply against 2.21 here: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/server:mail/alpine But I'm not sure at this point if that's all the stuff from all.patch or just some of it, and I'm also not sure whether that would qualify requirements for inclusion in Gentoo, either.
Stable on alpha.
