gnome-vfs is dead for ages in favor of glib/gvfs. I have seen that other distributions like Debian or Arch killed this optional requirement in vlc some years ago. I think we should do the same then Thanks!
gnome-vfs is removed in vlc-3.0.0 so we can do that with next stabilisation.
