Portage reports the following QA issue when emerging sys-apps/iproute2-4.15.0:

> One or more empty directories installed to /var:
> 
>   /var/lib/arpd
> 
> If those directories need to be preserved, please make sure to create
> or mark them for keeping using 'keepdir'. Future versions of Portage
> will strip empty directories from installation image.

This is resolved at least in in >=iproute2-5.2.0.

I'm reopening this bug because with sys-apps/iproute2-5.6.0 I still get the following warning message:

    Also cleanup parent directories as much as possible.
