Recently I ran in to an issue where Gentoo was forcing this old version of libsdl2 and upgrading fixed the bug. Given there are other bugs open about linbsdl2 that relate to eh current situation, I believe a more recent version should be unmasked. https://bitbucket.org/rude/love/issues/1373/unable-to-set-reasonable-full-screen
