I have seen this package relies in dead dev-python/librsvg-python. It seems upstream is still alive, but I couldn't find any bug report about this issue. 

I have reported https://bugs.launchpad.net/openastro.org/+bug/1736745 to let us to track the progress on this

The latest version uses gobject-introspection bindings, thankfully.
