Comment 1 Michael Palimaka (kensington) gentoo-dev 2018-01-14 06:47:50 UTC
This just looks plain broken.

src/3rdparty/chromium/third_party/openmax_dl/dl/BUILD.gn does this:
>    if (arm_optionally_use_neon) {
>      # Run-time NEON detection.
>      deps = [ "//third_party/android_tools:cpu_features" ]

following the backtrace, we end up here hitting in src/3rdparty/chromium/build/config/android/internal_rules.gni:
> assert(is_android)

In src/core/config/linux.pri, we see:
>         MFPU = $$extractCFlag("-mfpu=.*")
>        !isEmpty(MFPU):contains(MFPU, ".*neon.*") {
>            gn_args += arm_use_neon=true
>        } else {
>            gn_args += arm_use_neon=false
> # If the toolchain does not explicitly specify to use NEON instructions
>            # we use arm_neon_optional for ARMv7
>            equals(MARMV, 7): gn_args += arm_optionally_use_neon=true

So, it looks like on any non-android ARMv7 without explicit NEON will guarantee to fail.

does it still fail with currently in-tree versions?

It does fail for me but it's silghtly different: bug 822204.

tinderbox_arm has reproduced this issue with version 5.15.12_p20240122 - Updating summary.

You're testing PMASKED packages?

It's not masked on arm that I can see (only see x86, x32, and big-endian profiles from a grep), and then 5.15.12 still has its arm keyword which could make it get automatically tested.
Comment 7 Ionen Wolkens gentoo-dev 2024-03-30 20:55:57 UTC
(might add that I honestly thought it was masked like x86, so I'm a bit surprised)

Oh I see, it was dropped in [1] along the rest, which essentially made it visible again.

Turns out it was me actually recently with e892cc2c6351ea2b6fee5089eb2ada163d50a076, not meaning to also unmask qtwebengine. Will be obsolete after 5.15.12 cleanup soon, anyway...
