Description ivo welch 2004-09-07 08:13:02 UTC
$ emerge --pretend acroread-5.09.ebuild

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[blocks B ] <app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-baselibs-1.2 (from pkg app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-glibc-1.1)
[ebuild N ] app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-glibc-1.1
[ebuild N ] app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-compat-1.0
[ebuild U ] app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-baselibs-1.2.2 [1.1-r3]
[ebuild U ] app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-xlibs-1.2-r1 [1.1-r1]
[ebuild N ] app-text/acroread-5.09

what is the recommended procedure to emerge acroread-5.09?

Reproducible: Always

emerge -C "<app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-baselibs"

That's what the [blocks B] line suggests. Please make yourself familiar with
portage usage before you file bugs. Further, this has nothing to do with acroread.

INVALID

dear danny: sorry, but should this not work for an ordinary user out-of-the-box?

aside, even after unblocking, acroread fails under amd64. (I tried to see if I could determine where it fails, but *I* failed.)

# ./acroread /tmp/creditors9.pdf

acroread is something that JUST started working, and i've only gotten it to work when using xorg 6.7.99. if you want to use it, emerge xorg-x11 6.7.99.904 and then re-emerge emul-linux-x86-xlibs.

as for the blocking, that's normal behavior. if you want it changed, file another bug and assign it to dev-portage@gentoo.org. i dont think they'll change it though.
