Thank you for your contribution. I had a short look on the ebuild.
Here a few ideas:

* Please test the ebuild with repoman https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Repoman
* We always try to use the latest EAPI, please bump to EAPI=6
* KEYWORDS need ~ after a version bump
* I do not understand why the README gets renamed newdoc README.md README

perhaps it makes sense to convince upstream to use versioned releases for https://github.com/flok99/rsstail and use that source.

Do you use the package?

Sorry for the delay. I only modified the ebuild currently in the tree, but I'll try to get caught up on those standards tonight and submit a modernized ebuild.

I just started using rsstail, and I currently have scripts running that are dependent on it. I'll email the author and see about the versioned releases, hopefully he's still maintaining it. If not, there is another fork that is a little newer and does have that as a release.

This is from a recent fork. v2.1 was released about 2 years ago and the v2.2 fork contains all the updates since then. It also includes a nice feature ("-T" option), cleaner help/docs, etc...

repoman was run against this. I've always used ebuild digest... but this is neat.
