Description Sergey Torokhov 2017-09-07 13:12:29 UTC
This fonts were designed by ParaType for Astra Linux on the base of Pt Sans ΠΈ PT Serif to be metrically compatible with Times New Roman.

Licence is the same as for "media-fonts/paratype" package - OFL-1.1
(scroll down for english version):
http://astralinux.com/ofl.html

Please add new font-package to portage tree (see attached ebuild-file).

Reproducible: Always

Thank you.

I suggest to remove the mirror homepage block, because gentoo will mirror it and they seem to ignore the version number. So they will break our package probably on the next update.

SRC_URI="http://astralinux.com/images/fonts/PTAstraSans&Serif_TTF_ver1001.zip -> ${P}_Sans_Serif.zip"

could be rewritten to

SRC_URI="http://astralinux.com/images/fonts/PTAstraSans&Serif_TTF_ver${PVR}.zip -> ${P}_Sans_Serif.zip"

why not ${P}.zip?

What is the difference to media-fonts/paratype?

Thank you for remark.

I made simple changes about ${PVR} variable. As for direct link I used it for downloading tests of package. Does it means that mirror restriction is applying by default as I doesn't set RESTRICT variable? Do I miss something for that?

The ebuild-file itself is the "copy" of "media-fonts/paratype-2.25.ebuild" so the suffix "_Sans_Serif" is used similarly to it's downloaded archives. Also I mentioned the mirror-links to ParaType official site itself where package stores as two separate files. So I rename archives similar way. I don't know is it worth to save them but referred files aren't contain version number. In any case if " Gentoo Fonts" team will accept this package (as I hope) they will modify it to their own vision of renaming of downloaded files. I don't have solid experience of ebuild writing so I rely upon Gentoo developer's opinion.

Also as they refers to Astra Linux site for OFL-Licence therefor I made link to Astra Linux site preferred.

As it could be seen from attached file ("PTAstra_PT_TNR.png" for EN and RU text; "PTAstra_PT_TNR_de_fr.png" for DE and FR text examples) the "ParaType Astra" fonts are totally metrically compatible with "Times New Roman" while "PataType" fonts are not. This is the appropriate modification of ParaType company public fonts (PT Sans, PT Serif) for this purpose.
