The exact failure is not hugely enlightening.

And I'm not sure how to reliably execute this test in isolation the same way as it does under portage.

Does it fail repeatedly? Did you try -j1?

> Does it fail repeatedly? Did you try -j1?

Seems to fail roughly 50% of the time.

Just unforutnately, 100% of the time I tested it before filing this bug...

When it does fail it seems to fail randomly on either of tests in that component in isolation, so they might be touching some shared state.

However, no amount of experimenting in tests/property-changed-signal/
with:

  dbus-launch make -j9 check

Exhibits the issue for me ( I did this earlier and the 100% pass I attributed to me running the tests wrong )

However, operating in tests/ proves useful enough:

for i in {0..10}; do dbus-launch make -j2 check >&/dev/null; echo $? ; done

Couldn't you just say in a single sentence that it's a race condition?

I was trying to give more context on where the RC might be, and give proof it was one.

Esp as "force -j1" is seen as a bad hack from QA. :)
