Created attachment 491914 [details, diff] patch to fix font sizes To use before incorporation into the ebuild, place this patch is /etc/portage/patches/media-sound/lilypond-2.19.64/ (change the version numbers if you are using an earlier version and have this problem)
For completion, I am using: x11-libs/pango-1.40.6 media-libs/fontconfig-2.12.4 (both stable versions) media-sound/lilypond-2.19.64 (unstable version) and the patch came from: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=211350
Thank you. Is upstream aware of this? It would be ideal if it is patched there.
They are aware, as far as I can see, but they don't seem to be moving so quickly to fix it. Hopefully it will be resolved some time soon!

No problem Eugene! The irony is that I actually only use lilypond on an occasional basis, and yesterday was probably the first time for nearly a year. I can't take any credit for the fix - someone else had already done the hard work of finding the problem!
