HandBrake ships with a lot of packages combined with its own patches against them, making porting it to use native versions installed on our systems potentially buggy. It's a point of stress between upstream and Gentoo community. Would be good to throw a little message in there that our builds are not supported by upstream, and to report bugs to our bugzilla or Multimedia forum so we can field them there.
