net-p2p/go-ethereum is outdated, last update (1.5.5) is from December 2016. As of writing this, 1.6.5 is the most recent release. Please update the ebuild.

Chances are high, because a first look on the bump revealed only small changes. Do you have a link to the changelog? Changelog is available at https://github.com/ethereum/go-ethereum/releases for each release. Simple bump seems to work, at least build and startup.
