Gnome2 complains if xscreensaver is not installed. It should probably be included in gnome-base/gnome. The user would probably expect it in a reasonable gnome2 installation. Arun
complains how ?
Actually, having it as a run-time dependency would work, but a user -must- not have it, and to get a friendly warning that :xscreensaver was not found on your system, screensaver will be disabled for this session is far better than forcing something down a users throat.
A dialog box pops up when gnome starts. It says that there was an error starting xscreensaver and that xscreensaver will not function this session. I agree with Spider that we probably shouldn't force this down users throats; however, gnome-games is included in the gnome package. This package isn't strictly necessary either. I would argue that xscreensaver is as useful or more so than gnome-games. This is just my opinion though. I will defer to you guys/gals who know much more about this than I.
well.. gnome-games might not be useful, but it is part of the gnome experience ;) (or the desktop package at least) I'll leave it "as is" for now
fair enough.
